Natural disasters are becoming more severe, and the failure chain that occurs after a disaster is often just as damaging. We researched the disaster management and recovery field, and persistent issues in disaster resilience.
Research
We conducted a competitive analysis of existing disaster recovery technologies, and interviewed experts in disaster management.
Puerto Rico Case Study
Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria, and the entire island lost power. We interviewed locals and codesigned solutions based on the lived experience of a post-disaster community.
Design
We followed a design sprint process to ideate solutions around the problem of communication, validate the technical feasibility of those solutions, and codesigned a framework with Eaton to evaluate designs.
